What Is the Liturgical Jamboree?

The Liturgical Jamboree is St. Mary’s summer formation experience for young people who want to serve Christ and His Church. Participants will pray together, attend Mass, learn the meaning of the liturgy, practice real liturgical skills, and build friendships through games, competitions, meals, and joyful service.

This year, the Jamboree will help students grow through two complementary paths of liturgical formation: Manus Dei for boys and Daughters of St. Thérèse for girls. Both paths are rooted in the same mission: to form young disciples who are reverent, prayerful, attentive, generous, and ready to serve.

Two Mottos. One Mission of Holiness.

Manus Dei Motto

Watch and Pray

Manus Dei members strive to be examples of prayer, good stewards of sacred things, and ever ready to serve. Boys learn to be attentive at Mass, ready to assist the priest, and willing to serve with discipline, reverence, and joy.

Daughters of St. Thérèse Motto

Small Things with Great Love

Daughters of St. Thérèse follow the “Little Way” of St. Thérèse by learning that even hidden acts of service — preparing sacred vessels, arranging vestments, or caring for the sacristy — can become offerings of love for Jesus.

Two Paths. One Mission of Service.

Manus Dei

For boys growing as altar servers, brothers, leaders, and men of prayer.

Manus Dei is a formation path for young men among our altar servers. It helps boys grow in fraternity, holiness, confidence at the altar, and openness to God’s call. Through prayer, training, service, and brotherhood, they learn to serve the Mass with attention, discipline, and joy.

  • Learn the order of Mass and how to serve with reverence
  • Practice processions, candles, bells, torches, incense, and sacred vessels
  • Grow in brotherhood, leadership, discipline, and readiness to serve
  • Hear from priests, seminarians, and older servers about service and vocation

Daughters of St. Thérèse

For girls growing in prayer, reverence, beauty, order, and generous service to the sacred liturgy.

Daughters of St. Thérèse is a liturgical formation path for girls who have received First Communion. Inspired by St. Thérèse of Lisieux and her “Little Way,” the Daughters learn to serve Christ with humility, attentiveness, beauty, and love, especially through sacristan service and other liturgical-support roles.

  • Prepare sacred vessels, vestments, books, the credence table, and offertory gifts
  • Learn how hidden service helps the whole parish pray
  • Practice reverence before, during, and after Mass
  • Grow in sisterhood, prayer, confidence, and “small things with great love”

Tuesday Evening Mass & Induction

Families Are Invited

Parents and families are invited to join us on Tuesday at 5:30 PM Mass. At this Mass, we will welcome and induct new members of Manus Dei and the Daughters of St. Thérèse.

This will be a beautiful moment for our parish to pray for these young people as they begin or deepen their service to Jesus in the sacred liturgy.

Dinner Provided

Dinner will be provided on Tuesday evening after Mass. Parents and families are invited to stay, celebrate, and enjoy fellowship with the Jamboree participants.

Final details about dinner and the evening flow will be included in the full schedule.

What Students Will Learn

Prayer

Students will learn that liturgical service begins with prayer. They will practice Mass responses, reverent posture, silence, attention, and the habit of praying with the Church.

Skill

Students will learn the names and uses of sacred vessels, vestments, liturgical books, sacred spaces, processional items, and the practical duties needed before, during, and after Mass.

Leadership

Students will learn how older and more experienced servers can help younger students, take responsibility, anticipate what is needed, and serve with charity.

Cool Things Happen When Kids Serve

At St. Mary’s, liturgical service is not just about “helping Father.” It is about learning how to love Jesus in the Mass, how to work as a team, how to be attentive to holy things, and how to grow into the young men and women God is calling our students to become.

The Jamboree gives students a place to learn, practice, ask questions, make friends, and discover that serving at Mass is one of the most beautiful things they can do.
